Episode 70: Hey! Listen! #6: Studio Ghibli
Today we discuss the amazing movies of Studio Ghibli, and Japanese film director, producer, screenwriter, animator, author, and artist extraordinaire, Hayao Miyazaki. We go through our favorites, what we like about each one, common themes that cross a lot of Miyazaki movies, and things that are maybe a little strange. And, very importantly, Michael tries to explain to me the ending of Princess Mononoke and convince me that it doesn’t invalidate the message of the rest of the movie. But mostly, we gush about how great all these movies are!
Have we inspired you to give any of these movies a try? Here are all the Miyazaki videos OCLN has available to borrow - try one, try em all!
We hope you’ll join us next time for more great geek and gamer-related reminiscing and discussions. And check out the new adult video games we have available to check out at the Duxbury Free library -- including some of the newest and most popular Xbox One and Playstation 4 games!
